Biluochun is one of China’s most historically revered green teas, traditionally produced around the Dongting mountains near Taihu Lake outside Suzhou for centuries. It became famous not through strength or bitterness, but through aroma - intensely floral, fruity, and soft in a way few green teas can match.
Its modern name was given during the Qing dynasty by the Kangxi Emperor, who named the tea Biluochun (碧螺春) - “Green Snail Spring” - referring to its jade-green colour, tightly curled spiral leaves, and early spring harvest.
In the cup, it opens with orchid and stone-fruit fragrance before developing notes of apricot blossom, sweet chestnut, fresh greens, and soft spring honey, finishing clean, refreshing, and intensely aromatic.
