today i found this post in my drafts and thought i should finally finish editing and share it 😅

the title ‘that nobody talks about’ felt a lot more accurate before i started spending every waking hour surrounded by tea and tea people 💖

discovering myanmar’s hidden tea treasures 🇲🇲

deep in the mountains of northern myanmar lies mogok, a place famous around the world for its rubies. but hidden among these mountains is another precious treasure: tea.

my personal favourite (and the one i am most excited to share with you) is called tree spirit white. crafted from mountain-grown tea trees, it is delicate, silky, and opens with soft notes of honeysuckle before revealing ripe pear, gentle sweetness, and a lingering, honey-like finish. yes, it really is that good 😌

i first tasted this tea with phyu thwe, the founder behind this incredible project. through her work, she is helping preserve myanmar’s tea heritage, supporting local growers and bringing attention to one of the world’s most overlooked tea origins.

as such, it is such an honour to now share this tea with you ❤️

guys i want to post about yesterday, one of the most wholesome experiences of my life and also my first tea tour in taiwan!! 🇹🇼

i decided that i wanted to run tea tours here for several reasons:

- taiwanese tea is the best in the world (imo)
- getting to the real, good places can be tricky
- supporting families and local businesses is SO important
- i want travellers in taiwan to meet these wonderful tea people and share beautiful experiences
- i love drinking good tea with good people

and guys, it was SO FUN!

i had the best group and adored every second geeking out about tea, eating fresh tieguanyin-infused pineapple cakes, and eventually somehow watching them do shots of eyewatering spirit with the family 😭

shout out to Master Li, world-influential taiwanese tea master who until this day I’d only ever referred to as 老師 (😅), the amazing family at @s.s.yuan_tea for sharing so much with us, and our driver, jeff, who likely wondered what he’d signed up for when he responded to my call.

and a MASSIVE shout out to my group for being so lovely ❤️ i’m ready for our next tea together 😌

a few days in the wuyi mountains, where some of china’s most celebrated oolong and black teas have been crafted for centuries 😌

i spent time with the team at @lingyanxiaocharen , visiting the gardens, watching the processing, and tasting teas where they’re made. seeing the production of such iconic teas firsthand was honestly such a bucket-list experience 🥹

i came home with wild black tea, zhengshan xiaozhong (lapsang souchong), shui xian, and jin jun mei, and ngl, the taste of some of these surprised me. i’d never really liked zhengshan xiaozhong before and always found it tasted a bit like burnt tyres 😅 but this one had notes of pine, dried fruit, honey and a lingering sweetness that made it incredibly easy to drink. it is SO GOOD!

i’m thinking about adding these teas to my range and featuring them at some upcoming tastings and events. do you guys think i should? 👀
