Matcha is a type of Japanese green tea that has been stone-ground into an ultra-fine, vibrant powder. Its name literally translates as “ground tea”, and it is one of the most concentrated and nutrient-rich forms of green tea available.
Our Ceremonial Grade Gokou Matcha is made from shade-grown tea leaves, carefully cultivated before harvest to increase chlorophyll, amino acids, and L-theanine. The plants are shaded for three to four weeks, a process that deepens their colour and builds the signature sweet, umami-rich profile matcha is known for.
Naturally rich in antioxidants, matcha contains significantly higher levels than regular green tea, and is traditionally associated with calm focus, mental clarity, and sustained energy.
In the cup, this Gokou cultivar expression is especially smooth and creamy, with soft cocoa notes, a rounded sweetness, and a deep savoury umami finish.
