Old Rock Clay Chinese Retro Style Teapot
This one has to be one of the most unique pieces of tea pottery that we offer. This Chinese retro old style teapot, available in five extremely different styles, is a lovely mix of rough texture, grounded form, and warm character. Each teapot holds around 130ml, whereas the more gaiwan-style pot holds around 180ml.
Why we’re smitten:
Bold Texture & Earthy Appeal: The surface is coarse and unrefined - not polished, not perfect - but deeply alive. The rock clay body gives it a tactile, grounded presence that invites touch. It’s the kind of piece you want to hold, even before you pour. At least that's what we think!
Retro Silhouette Meets Functional Design: Its form nods to classic, old-world teapots, yet it’s fully built for use. The balance, lid, and spout are all designed so the piece feels stable and pourable, not just decorative.
Scale & Utility: This style often works best for single or small sharing brews, think intimate sessions where you can really share a moment with someone (or just with yourself!). The texture and coarse ceramic behaviour can make it stand out when you brew something like oolong, pu’er, or darker teas that benefit from earthier vessels.
Why It Adds Soul to Your Collection: This teapot elevates a tea session from the ordinary to the soulful. The rugged texture, the old clay body, the retro styling; it all comes together to give you something that doesn’t just pour tea, but tells a story. It’s perfect when you want to slow your ritual and reconnect with the raw materials of tea.
