Sitting at the greener end of the oolong spectrum, this is a light, fragrant tea that brings together the freshness of green tea with the floral complexity of oolong. Its aroma is reminiscent of a spring garden in bloom, with sweet lilac and jasmine leading the way. In the cup, a delicate bouquet of lilacs meets a soft, natural sweetness, creating an elegant and refreshing infusion.
What makes Lazy Morning particularly interesting is the place it comes from. Renegade Tea Estate was established by a group of friends who began rehabilitating abandoned tea plantations in western Georgia in 2018. After decades of neglect, these old tea gardens are being given a new lease of life, with the team experimenting with small-batch processing to reveal the unexpected possibilities of Georgian tea.
Lazy Morning is a lovely example of this adventurous approach. The leaves are hand-picked and crafted at the estate’s own small factory, where careful withering and processing help develop its fresh, floral character. Rather than relying on heavy roasting or a more robust flavour profile, this tea celebrates delicacy, fragrance and sweetness.
