This special trio of herbal teas honours the deep-rooted plant wisdom of the Kichwa people of the Andes and Amazon.
Curated by Eisa Tea Co. founder Amy Aed, each tin carries a story of discovery and connection. Amy first tasted guayusa in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, where its smooth, energising brew is traditionally shared as part of early morning ritual. Later, in Peru’s Sacred Valley, she was welcomed into the home of Mila, a Kichwa healer who became like family to her. It was there, under Mila’s gentle guidance, that she encountered the calming citrus notes of cedrón and the invigorating clarity of muña.
Mila shared not only these cherished herbs, but the knowledge carried through generations: guayusa for endurance and mental clarity, cedrón to soothe digestion and quiet the nerves, and muña to warm the body, support breathing, and ease the effects of altitude.
Later, Amy worked with the AberInnovation Centre to explore how these traditional herbs could be thoughtfully paired with European plants, resulting in three contemporary tisanes inspired by living herbal traditions.
Blend 1 - Energy & Grounded Focus
- Guayusa + Roasted Chicory Root
Guayusa is traditionally brewed in Amazonian communities to support alertness, endurance, and clear thinking. Its stimulation is smooth and steady, often described as gentler than coffee.
Roasted chicory root has long been used in European and Spanish herbal traditions as a bitter digestive tonic and coffee alternative. Its grounding bitterness adds depth to the blend and helps balance stimulating herbs.
Flavour: Smooth, gently energising, lightly roasted and grounding.
Blend 2 - Digestive Warmth & Comfort
- Muña + Liquorice Root (low %)
Muña is a traditional Andean herb used to warm the body, ease digestion, and support breathing, especially in cold or high-altitude environments. It is aromatic and gently stimulating, often brewed after meals.
Liquorice root is widely used in both European herbalism and Traditional Chinese Medicine as a harmonising herb, valued for softening bitterness and supporting digestion. In this blend it is used sparingly to round the flavour and support gentle digestive balance.
Flavour: Fresh, warming, minty-herbal with soft natural sweetness.
Blend 3 - Calm & Nervous System Support
- Cedrón + Oat Straw + Linden Flower
Cedrón has long been used in South American and Spanish herbal traditions as a calming digestive and nervine, traditionally brewed to ease nervous tension, restlessness, and digestive cramping.
Oat straw and linden flower are both beloved in European herbal traditions for gently nourishing the nervous system and supporting emotional ease. Together, they create a soft, comforting blend for quiet moments and evening rituals.
Flavour: Soft citrus, floral, gentle and comforting.
How These Blends Were Designed
While these teas are rooted in Andean and European herbal traditions, Amy also studies Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has shaped how she thinks about balance, energy, digestion, and calming the nervous system. The blends are not presented as traditional TCM formulas, but the language of Qi, digestion, and emotional flow has helped guide how these herbs are paired and described.
The profits from this set are shared between Eisa Tea Co. and Mila, in recognition of the living traditions that inspired these blends and the relationship that made them possible.
