today marks the release of my yerba mate set 🧉✨

this has been such a long time coming - sourcing, tasting, and figuring out what actually feels right to share for a proper introduction to mate. so this is it! there’s three distinct styles of yerba mate, each one chosen to show a different side of the ritual 😌

the first is a beautiful organic con palo from Anna Park, grown in Misiones and naturally aged for a smoother, cleaner taste. it’s soft, rounded, and incredibly easy to drink 😋

then there’s the tereré, which is bright, bold, and made for cold brewing. this one comes from Establecimiento Guayabera, and it completely shifts the experience. think iced water, citrus, heat, summer… i love it ☀️

and finally, the everyday classic (sin palo) from Piporé, which is balanced, slightly bitter, and familiar in the best way 💖

i also included everything you need to actually start drinking: a traditional mate cup, a bombilla, and a cleaner ✨

this set is for the curious, the newcomers, and the ones who’ve been meaning to get into mate but didn’t know where to start. it’s also for anyone who already loves it and wants to experience the differences properly 🪴

leaves are hand picked at peak maturity, then quickly heated to prevent oxidation and lock in that fresh, earthy flavour (called sapecado). next comes a slow drying process, often with smoke, which builds its bold, slightly woody character 😋

the leaves are then aged, cut, and blended into the traditional mix brewed through a gourd with a bombilla. in argentina it’s usually shared throughout the day, while in nearby brasil, chimarrão is made with a finer green cut and a much foamier, fresher style (it kind of looks like matcha!) 🍵

from the mountains to the ocean, apartments in buenos aires to trees in welsh patagonia, there’s something so familiar about yerba mate 🧉

the ceremonial aspect and the concept of sharing a beverage amongst friends and strangers alike reminds me so much of tea. everyone i met in argentina, uruguay, paraguay, and southern brasil were so ready to share their mate, chimarrão, and tereré, that i can’t wait to now bring along some of my favourite yerbas to upcoming tea events in the uk and drink them with you all! ❤️
